Default 98 CC 48v Motor Turns Wheels Don't

Day 1)
The cart has fully charged newish batteries, all connections are clean and snug, the motor can be heard turning and shifting gears. Sudden and nearly complete lack of power - they were going straight on a well graveled path with no hills.

Day 2)
When I jacked it up the wheels turn but seem to stutter, and there is very little power to the wheels - am able to stop the rotation with palm pressure.

So does CC have a limited slip differential and if so, anyone have a best guess what parts might be needed to fix this type problem or at least do a more in detailed/accurate of the problem.?

Background: I have elderly neighbors who used this cart daily as we live in the country and it's a long walk to the mail box. As my name here implies, I'm normally decent with my hands, but it's my head that's having issues on this problem, so anything anyone can offer as help would be appreciated greatly.

Have you check each battery for condition and charge. Do you have a SINGLE FLOAT hydrometer with temperature correcting scale on side so you can check each cell, OR a digital volt meter to check each battery first and then whole pack voltage? Go to STICKIES ABOVE for "State of charge readings" for correct info.

Possibly you have a stripped hub ~ right rear. Pull the hub cap and see if the nut spins when the motor goes but the cart won't go.

Yes it is an open differential. one wheel can spin and the cart does not go.....

Old Mec - While I do have a "real" hydrometer", I instead grabbed a digital VOM and checked total working voltage-it was at 51.23 so am thinking it's not a battery issue. :(

thank you, any reply makes me think!

scottyb ~ am headed back to my garage asap, and will double check what you suggested. At this point I'll be happy to see a bad hub! Thanks, I'll let you know in a couple hours.

have you load tested the batts. ? they may be fine voltage wise but you could have one dropping out under load and it only takes just one so do a load test on each battery..................................
