2005 EZGO won't start
Ok so my first project with this cart is to get it to run. I put in a charged battery and there is no spark. The starter motor doesnt click, nothing at all. Not even a spark at the battery when connecting the cables. I'm thinking bad solenoid. Is there something else I should check first. The connections are all clean and secure and I replaced a blown fuse already. Thanks in advance for the help.

Check the fuse again and start tracing wires and checking for voltage.
This is a job that needs time and patience. |

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
Check out the tech section and get you a schematic then grab a multi-meter and go to work. If there is no load on the connection then you probably won't get a spark. Start checkin voltage from the batt. to the next component in line. If it ain't clickin the micro switch might be a place to look... Good Luck

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
How do you know you have no spark if you say the starter does not spin over, no clicks, nothing.
The way to do a quick check of everything is to remove both small wires from the solenoid. Then use two jumpers from the battery pos and neg to the two small solenoid posts. If it spins over you have a problem with your starting circuit which you can trace with the above sticky diagrams. If it does not spin over, take a big jumper and jump the two large solenoid post. If that makes it spin you have a bad solenoid. If it still does not spin you have a bad battery connection or cable or bad ground or bad starter/generator. |

Thanks guys. I have downloaded the wiring diagrams and will follow your advice this weekend and see what I come up with.

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
sure sounds like the micro switch, simple continuity check would rule that out or in.

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
Have a Hauler 1200. No spark at plugs. Coil has 2.5 ohm primary, 12000 ohm secondary. Pulser has 538 ohm. Don't know how to check ignitor. There is 12v at coil.
any help? Thanks. |

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
Ok so I got home early from work tonight and started tinkering with this electrical stuff. I was a bit confused as the diagrams I downloaded were not exactly the same as what I am looking at. I took off the Plastic dash cover to get at the serial number and have now discovered that I have a 1995 Medalist and not a 2005 TXT. I did manage to rule out the solenoid and starter switch as well as the micro switch. The ignition coil when tested with an ohm meter failed at both the primary and secondary terminals. If the coil is bad will the starter not turn? If the other connections are checking out ok is the starter just bad? Jumping the solenoid terminals didn't turn the starter either.

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
If you jumped across the two big solenoids with a jumper the starter should turn... Do you have voltage to one of the terminals? Should be battery voltage..

Re: 2005 EZGO won't start
Well I went back out there and jiggled all the wires again and guess what.. It fired right up and runs awesome. I don't know.. I guess I missed a loose connection somewhere. I'm a happy camper. Thanks for all your help, I still have alot to learn about these things. When I get it cleaned up a little I will take some pix and share them. Thanks again guys.
