Wiring a 48v to 12v converter and radio...
For most of you, this is probably simple to answer. I hope you can be of help.
I have a 07 Precedent that I recently bought a JBL marine grade MR-17 stereo/CD player and a 20 amp converter off of ebay. The converter has four wires...a red (+) and a black (-) for inputs & a green (+) and a blue (-) for output. The stereo has the following... *A yellow memory wire (with a 10A fuse) that it says to connect to permanent +12v supply. *A red power wire that it says to connect to the boat (or cart in my case) ignition. *A black ground wire. I presume I should connect the red (+) input from the converter to my positive battery terminal and the black (-) input to the negative battery terminal. Should I connect the yellow memory wire from the radio to the green (+) output coming from the converter. Should I connect the black (-) ground coming from the radio to the converter's blue (-) output? Where should I connect the red ignition wire from the radio? Thanks for any and all help. You may need more info, so fire away. |

Re: Wiring a 48v to 12v converter and radio...
you can either connect it to the green(+) coming from the converter or set up a 48 volt relay from the keyswitch that will feed 12 volt output from the converter to the red ignition wire for the radio when the key is turned on.
