Advice on 2005 TXT
I got a 2005 TXT. It has the 9hp Robins in it. Has a 6" lift with 12" wheels and 23" tires.
I've tinkered with the throttle cable, adjusted valves, and replaced with a shorter belt. Plugs look good with a little bit of carbon, but not bad at all. My cart will not rev up like I thought it should. When you first start out, it will rev pretty high (no tach), then it settles down. Even when loaded down or on hills, it will not rev up high. Is this normal? Any advice? I'm probably gonna send my clutch in the cpp to have it machined and spring installed. Is this gonna make a difference? Anything else I should check? |

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
It sounds like your governor is holding you back for the most part. You get that good acceleration and speed and all of a sudden it's like somebody put the brakes on... Does that sound right. Try this link http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/ezgo-...4-strokes.html and see if it helps... Those little engines have alot of potential, just keep in mind that the governor is there for the protection of the engine. Overdoing it can lead to premature engine failure due to excessively high RPM's so go a little at a time. Also, I would definitely look into machining your clutch. I have been seriously thinkin about doin' mine. I've heard good things about the increased pulling power... Hope this fixes you problem!!

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
Ask Tom at CPP to check out the buttons and ramps ... excessive wear may be leaving your clutch stuck in high gear? TOm can really help these clutches work better than new.

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
While you are doing all the adjustments, etc. There is one other thing that you could do to make the engine last longer.
I, also have a 2005 TXT with the infamous "Tin Can" engine...295cc. From day one when I bought it new, I have used Yamaha Ring Free. This is what boaters...use in their highly expensive outboard engines. I know, I own a $12,000.00 Yamaha outboard. This stuff works wonders when it come to keep the engine clean of any carbon, etc. My Yamaha engine is 12 years old and never had a nut/bolt turned on it. This also stands for my TXT engine. It gets the same Yamaha Ring Free gas treatment. Buy "Ring Free" at local boat/motor dealers, or marinas in your area. It comes in quart containers for about nine bucks, but it is worth it. Do as the label says, and you are free of any carbon/oil buildup on the Tin Can. |

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
I woudl say remove the driven clutch and chek it out. Something is telling me the ramps are worn and its metal on metal so its binding. I just built one yesterday.

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
take the bolt out of the center. the clutch should slide off. if it doesn't just slide off you may have to spray the crap out of it with pb blaster and give it alittle help with a tap.

Re: Advice on 2005 TXT
yes you can. it is very simple.
once the clutch is off look on the back side and you will see a snap ring. BECAREFUL, hold down on the center piece or it will hit you. its spring loaded. once teh ring is out its pretty much straight fwrd. You will see the 3 buttons and the ramp we are talking about. |
