Default Runs great sometimes and others won't take off for 4 or 5 min.

2000 Ez go gas, Sometimes runs perfect but others you have to hold pedal down and put in neutral untill motor finally revs up. Then it will run fine. It happens on any days not just cold ones and choking it doesn't help at all. I can pull it out of garage and it will run fine stop to put in forward or reverse and it acts up. Also seems to take a while to pick up speed every so often.
Where do I start?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Has been backfiring every once in a while

Does any one know wheres waldo.
How long have you had the cart/ Has it had a good
going through? Spark plug, air filter, fuel filter and such.
Is the drive belt in good shape or worn and streched,
take a seamstress tape and measure the length and
the width.

when you say you have to rev the motor in neutral and then it will go, does it do anything when you are trying to start it? does it try and roll over or do nothing?

also when you say that it backfires is it usually when you let off the gas and then when you get back on it it will backfire?

Sounds like the valves might be a little tight and maybe the accel cable needs to be adjusted?

Yes when it acts up and i have to hold pedal down it is barely running and after a few minutes of it doing that in neutral it will finally rev up and i can let it run for a bit and then put it back in gear and it might run fine all day or i might stop for a few minutes and it might do it again. It backfires when pressing the accelerator or releasing it, not very often but once in a while.

adj the valves is pretty straight foward.

check the plugs for wear.

you may need to remove carb and give it a good cleaning.

I adjusted the valves and it made a huge difference!
Thanks for the help!
I am still getting a small backfire every so often at low speeds after i let off gas and then acc again?
I had put some Sea foam in my gas a tank ago and was thinking this might be the culprit!

good to hear!

Make sure that when you let off the gas that the butterfly on the carburetor is closing all the way! turn the key off and push the gas pedal back and forth and watch to see if it closes all the way when you let off. if not you can adjust the the linkage to the carburetor and it will most likely be the problem.
