Default Whats my Options

I have a 1982 EZGO Marathon with the Robins 244. Compression is about 120 psi. It runs good on the level about 16 mph, but hills are tough. The cart has 22" tires. I was looking at getting some clutch work done, but no one works on the old stuff. We are on a tight budget so no new motors just yet, maybe next year!!

Those big tires have effecively overgeared your engine causing it to bog down. It's a little like putting a 6th gear on a Geo Metro. The best investment that you will make is to get a shorter belt. If you are running the standard 45 inch belt then buy the DAYCO HP 3004. It is only 7/8 inch shorter but it will blow you away the difference it makes to hill climbing. Although in theory it will reduce your top speed you won't notice. Trust me

I have one more question for you guys. How the heck do I push this cart? If I need to move it a foot or two in the garage I am not able to push it either direction. I must start it everytime. More suggestions please? Can ya all tell this is my first cart?

That is very strange. The drive belt should be loose enough to slip on the clutch pullies with the engine off and allow you to push it around. This is a little off the wall but when you stop your cart are you locking down the hill brake? If you are that will lock the rear wheels and when you press the accelerator to start, the brake will automatically disengage. If the brakes are not locked on then grab the main belt and give it a tug, does it slip around the pully?
