Engine Rod knocking
I am looking at A G5/G8 Yamaha golf cart, not sure which one it is. Was told it was a 93. I need to do alittle more digging on it. Was told it has a rod knock. It was dove and the oil wasnt checked and started knocking. Would it be easier to just to rebuild the one in it or get a new one? It does have the carb drilled out, performance exhaust, clutch work done, and bigger air box was told by Plowmans. Just wondering which way to go.

Re: Engine Rod knocking
A subjective question. If money (within reason) isn't a big factor, the Plowman's engine will have modifications that make the engine perform better and more reliably at higher rpm's than a stock cart engine (cam, ceramic coated piston, timing advance key, etc.) and if it doesn't run right, you have them standing behind their work.
Or you can do the work yourself and save hundreds of dollars using the same parts and your labor. You have to ask yourself what your labor and aggravation is worth and what your sense of pride in your workmanship is worth. I'd probably go the Plowman's route. |
