Default G1 Axle rear end in 2004 Yamaha?

Hey guys new member here with a project. I have a 2004 Yamaha Gas Golf cart that is complete besides a rear end assembly. I found a G1 axle that looks like it will bolt in. Will it work or am i better off finding the correct year axle? Is there any other rear ends that will work besides the original without major modifications?

Thanks, Great info on this forum!

Welcome to BGW

the 04 has a 4 stroke motor, and the rear end has a forward and reverse in the rear end, the G! is a two stroke and the motor runs in forward and reverse, so no the G! rear, will not work in the 04, not sure which ones will work in that year, but them yamaha guys will be along to help

Correct, the G1 rear transaxle will not have reverse. You'll need one from a 4 stroke cart to work properly and I'd suggest the same model for the cart that you have, although any 4 stroke rear axle can work with modifications. The EZGO axles are popular for those of us that like to fabricate. Some have made entirely new swing arms with drop brackets and 3 link setups that work well. Might check into that?
