Default Lift with atv shocks yamaha G1

Can anyone please tell me if I can get 2 or 3 inches lift from putting taller atv shocks on my G1 cart.
Also if possible are there certain recommended shocks for front and back and is there anything else that needs changing.
Thanks

It will lift the cart, but it will also tilt the wheels on an awful angle. To see what I mean, just jack up the front from the frame and watch the wheels as the cart goes up.You still need to drop the Control-Arms to keep everything on-plane.Alot of guys use 400ex shocks up front.Hope this helps.

You can lift the rear by putting bigger atv shocks on it. But the front is another story. Like Pachanga90 said.... The control arms and steering will need dropped to get the right camber.

Here's a couple photos of the mounts I made for the ex400 shocks i used on my 79' G1. You'll need to fabricate the lower rear shock mounts and the upper front shock mounts. I took measurements to decide how much extra lift I wanted in the front and rear. The key is to get the buggie sitting level but have enough clearance that you need.

As others mentioned, I eventually lowered my front A arms to re-align the front end. Remember, when you drop the front A arms, you'll need to set the toe as the front tires will be very toe-out. This will make the cart plow instead of track straight.

When I built the first-version of my lift,we used 400ex shocks in the front. They are very close to the stock shocks for rate, but alot longer. That cart looks tough,I like the stance.

One setup I tried was suzuki ltz400 front shocks and used them on the rear of my G1. These bolted right up to the stock mounts and resulted in a 6" lift, which matched the Jakes 6" front kit, but rode much better than the jakes rear lift kit that used the stock shocks.
