Default G2 HEI ignition question

Does anyone know if this setup will work on a G2?
I modified the original G2 wiring diagram to include a GM HEI module and coil to replace the original ignitor/coil. If the rotor and pickup work like a standard GM rotor, it should work. The oil warning light should also work.

Well, we hooked it up today and the motor runs. The problem we are having is that ignition timing seems to be retarded. Running up hills really dogs it down. I have read that one possiblility could be that the motor isn't properly grounded to the battery. We will fix that and try again. It appears that there is no adjustment for ignition timing. The motor ran good with the original ignitor, and pulled hills much better. We only went to HEI so we could get rid of the rev limiter. Any other ideas what to look for?

I don't see it, but there was a post here not long ago about using ford and chrysler modules on G2/9s iirc. I don't think they will advance the timing like the ignitor, though people said they ran good. The ignitor advances 30 degrees at 2500 and above, I am thinking about converting my clone motor to it.

You can change a wire or two and run a G9 ignitor with no limiter, though it does not give you that much more rpm anyway. I have two of them but not going anywhere until I figure out if I can run them on the clones.

Sho, where did you hear that the stock ignitor advances the timing? If that is true, how does the chrysler and ford conversions work?
