Blown out crank seal again and again
1986 EZ Go 2 Stroke, freshly rebuilt motor and blows out the new crank seal within minutes of use. Is there a way to peen it in place or some sort of adhesive I should use to hold it in. Thanks for an useful input.

Not sure if it helps or not, but LocTite makes an adhesive for seals. We use it all the time on hydraulic seals. But if it's blowing it out that easy I have to wonder if it's the right seal?

the seal is not bent or out of whack, and it is pretty tight to install even when using a bushing driver. Thanks for any input

Sounds like maybe too much blow-by. Does anyone know if there is a crankcase vent on these? Maybe it's plugged or didn't get reinstalled properly?

There wouldn't be a vent because a 2 stroke needs the pressure to run, do you have the ports lined up?I thinkif you have something backwards it would build to much pressure, also did you line up all the rings so the gap is all on one side that would cause more pressure.

I am not sure what ports you are refering to? I believe that the piston has notches in it for the rings so there is only 1 way to install them, but I will probably pull it back apart to make sure that I am not losing my mind. Thanks again for any input

He's talking about the cut-outs (ports) in the piston skirt that should be facing the carb. I'm not sure that'll blow out your seals if installed backwards but it will run like crap if that's wrong. You can see the piston through the exhaust if you take off the muffler.

I'm having the same problem. Didn't even get mine to start, after turning it over a few minutes it puffed some smoke(which is when it blew the crank seal) Any ideas here would be great.

on the 2 strokes is there is a "window" on the piston. this must face oposite side of the exhaust. this acts like the valve for the intake mixture. when the piston goes down, this window lines up with the port on cylinder head and allows the mix to flow into the cylinder
