Different plugs, new wire harness to oils with new diodes. Biggest problem exhaust was clogged pretty good. I beat on it and ran long wire brush through it man was it clogged. Took about 45 min to get it some what cleaned out. Running bout 13 mph but doesn't seem to have the power it should for a 16hp briggs. My g14 with 18 briggs will smoke it I beleive. But the biggest thing is we now know the briggs lives so on to more tuning any ideas. It still smokes but it had set for about 5 years when we got it. We have only actually drove it for about 5 min since gettingit going

there are two wires that runs from each coil to where the wires run from under the housing. you will notice a small lump in each wire, that's them. we just replaced the harness. the motor needs rebuilt now and cant get him to do it

Where should I look for the wire that runs from under the housing? I thought that if I could find and disconnect it I could tell if bad diodes are really my problem before I remove the fan shroud.
Thanks,
Wayne

So you are saying I have to remove the wires from the coils in order to see if the diodes are my problem?

Mine didn't have the harness. You have to have the diodes tested.

Cut the tape, remove the diodes and just test them. It only takes a few seconds to unplug it and test it. Moat meters have a diode test function. It will beep one way but not if you switch the leads to the opposite side of the diode.

Just a shot here but if the muffler is, was that clogged you should burn it out.
Start a fire and chuck it in their for a hour or two.
