Default '91 G9 bogging down after being run (sometimes)

I purchased a used '91 G9 this spring. Since the previous owner responded "I don't know" to every service question, (local high school shop teacher runs a spring oil change program so I know that was done & oil was clean) I replaced the fuel tank filter, both belts, checked the fuel pump, replaced all fuel lines and impulse line, air filter, spark plug and cleaned out the carburetor. I will run fine for about 7-8 holes but then it would bog down and barely limp along. This goes one for 5-10 minutes and then it snaps out of it and run strong. Only thing I observe is a very hot muffler. The other great thing is that it does not do this every time out and weather conditions don't seem to affect it as I ran 18 holes in 95 degree temps and it never missed a beat.

I have double checked the air filter box and it is on correctly. Wiring looks good and I am running straight gas, no 10%. I did disconnect the governor by re-routing the throttle cable straight to the carburetor and the carb does close all the way when the pedal is not pressed.

What else could I be missing?

John

First thought would be ignitor.get a spark tester if you don't already have one $5-10 at parts store.when it starts running like that plug it in and watch the spark if it's dim or flickering you probably need an ignitor good luck and keep us posted

Thanks for the advise. Spark was weak and a new ignitor fixed the glitch.
