yamaha G1 engine not getting fuel
Yamaha G1 not getting fuel. I'm new to golf carts so I'll try and explain what i'm dealing with. I have flushed the fuel tank, Checked all fuel lines for cracks, installed new fuel filter, new spark plug. disassembled carb. and cleaned in a ultra sonic cleaner. has just a little over 120 lbs. compression. Can't see any sign of crank seals leaking. Motor is dusty but nothing looking wet like oil leak. Question is how much compression is enough and does top side compression tell if the crankcase has enough vac. to draw fuel into chamber for compression stroke

Re: yamaha G1 engine not getting fuel
That car had a hard time to reprime the fuel pump. Also the fuel pump would sometime not pump fuel due to something in it. Good news is, the pump is awesome, and I never ever had to replace one. You could just take it apart, clean, reassemble and good to go.
Try to reprime it first. If you have compressed air, just pressurize the fuel tank SLIGHTLY and that will push fuel through and should reprime the pump and system, if you have a leak, it will show up also. |

Re: yamaha G1 engine not getting fuel
I forgot to mention that I bypassed the fuel system and ran a auxiliary fuel bottle and mounted it above the carburetor and ran a fuel line and gravity fed the carburetor fuel bowl. So I know the carburetor has fuel in the bowl. So I feel I must have a lack of vac. dew to a leaking crank seal or maybe a bad cylinder base gasket. And the vac. can't open the reed valve and allow fuel to enter the combustion chamber

Could a plugged or restricted exhaust affect how the vac. pulls fuel through the reed valves ?

Re: yamaha G1 engine not getting fuel
Did you happen to check the pulse hose from the back of the fuel pump to the crank case? It could be dry rotting or cracked if it's old. Vacuum loss there would also cause lack of fuel flow because the pump is not pulsing properly.
