Default Yamaha G22e lost - at solenoid

I parked my 2011 Yamaha G22e working cart and charged over night. When I returned to use the cart it does nothing. It will not beep when toggled in reverse. I have 50v + atvthe solenoid to the battery but it don’t have 50v across the solenoid terminals ( the solenoid will not engage without a negative) the negative/ black wire appears to go back through the plug to the controller. Why does the controller switch the negative internally? Is there a condition that would keep me from getting me negative at the solenoid? I also notice prior to this issue that the cart would randmly stop and I had to toggle into tow and back to run to hear the solenoid engage. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The cart will beep in reverse regardless of whether the solenoid is working. I had a bad solenoid (open coil) and the controller wouldn't let it work even when jumping the big solenoid terminals. But the reverse buzzer still worked. Things to check since the buzzer doesn't work: key switch, fwd/rev switch, tow/run switch, wiring to above, controller, etc

Negative and positive only go to the controller. There is nothing connected to the frame. Everything gets power and ground through the controller and wiring harness

Ok, 3 things...

- G22 ended production in the 2007 model year, time to study up on what you really have.
- all "Sepex" Yamahas (G19 1996 and all newer models fall into this category) had the solenoid "B-" provided by the controller. Required to provide the "it will try to not roll down the hill without you" feature they offer.
- the "randomly stops" thing is most often caused by weak batteries, but could also be a failing controller.

First, read the label next to the tow/run switch (if you have a G22, it is/was on the plate where the switch resides. Then turn switch off, for a little while, like it says. Then turn it back on. Does the solenoid click on for a brief period?

We really need to know more about what you really own.

Thank you for the quick replies!! I have a 2011 YDREX, which I think is a “Drive”? ( My apologies for the bad info) I have checked (continuity across the switches) the off/on, fed/reverse and the tow switch. I understand the buzzer should work and did before, prior to the solenoid closing but it does not now. The solenoid doesn’t close at all ( not even for a split second). I feel like it may be the controller?? If it is... would you suggest an Yamaha replacement or an aftermarket controller? Thank you all in advance!

It's more likely a fuse or wiring issue than the controller. Nevertheless, FSIP is a good source for a rebuilt controller

Those stock controllers do commonly fail in this fashion, with the symptoms you describe.

What brand controller do you suggest?

Does that altrex controller 48400 have enough power and torque for a cart lifted with big tires?
