Leaving Key On Kills Battery
I have a new to me, 2014 Precedent limo cart. Whenever I leave the key on it will kill the battery in a day or two.
I put a voltmeter between the battery and the positive cable and it is showing a current draw with the key on, no draw with key off. I pulled the blue wire from the ignition switch that goes to the solenoid and the current draw quit. Should it kill the battery when the key is left on? If not what should I be looking for to cause this to happen? |

Re: Leaving Key On Kills Battery
Which engine is in it?
Normally, there should not be much draw even if the key is on, but that can depend on what kind of aftermarket stuff is put on it. Is anything electrical added on like lights, radio, fans? The carts with the EFI motor have a higher draw than the carb carts because the electronics that run the motor will draw some power when the key is on, even if the engine is off. If it has the EFI Subaru motor you have to remember to turn the key off. Also, how old is the battery? If it's original it might be a good idea to go ahead and replace it. |
