Re: Workhorse engine issues...Help
Like to thank everyone for the input. Here is what I will do next:
Looks like I need to run the cart again to try and nail down the actual leak location. Possible causes: 1) Excess engine wear causing internal ring blow-by. Fix is rebuild 2) Crank shaft oil seal leak. Fix is replace seal. 3) Head gasket leak. Fix is to replace head gasket (should replace all seals is going this far) 4) dipstick leak. this is not likely, but will look for signs. Overall, it looks like I should prepare for a complete teardown and rebuild. This should be the most conservative and long lasting fix. Will post again after more intrusive troubleshooting to let everyone know the outcome. thanks!! |

Re: Workhorse engine issues...Help
A little follw-up....
Pulled the motor this weekend. Noticed a lot of what looked like paper all under the head flashing. After pulling the engine out of the cart and getting it home, I took these pictures.... It looks like I had wasps build a very nice nest inside the flashing of the engine all around the head. It wasnt easily noticable. This was the cause of the overheating. Looks like the oil was coming from the breather/PVC hose that blew off. I will continue teardown over the next day or two. More to come... |

What is the compression? Maybe the heat just blew a seal?

Re: Workhorse engine issues...Help
To be honest, if I found a dislodged vent hose, and the cooling fins
clogged.. I would clean it, clamp it, put fresh oil in it..and run it till it died. Unless you just want to rebuild it..but by the time you've read this post, you've probably torn it down. |
