Default Marathon lift and spring questions

If i get the older front leafs for a 79-88 marathon and put it on a newer marathon will it lengthen the front end because of the older cart spring being longer,Would it work or will everything need extended?I was looking at pics of lifted marathons and with 22inch tires it looks like the front part of the body will rub the tires.
