Transmission
I am new to golf carts I just bought a 1999 gas club car and the guy I bought it off of replaced the drive belt and now it will not move in reverse but it will go forward in forward and neutral he said it was backing up fine until he changed the belt. It will start and run in reverse but will not move it seems like it is bogging down the engine.

Re: Transmission
Are you sure that the shifter is actually putting the cart in reverse at the transmission? The cable could be binding up and not actually putting it in gear even though your shifter handle position looks like it's in reverse. You can get underneath the back and move the actuator arm by hand to make sure it's in reverse.
Also check your little spring-loaded yellow cam on the back of the shifter handle. During normal operation the cart motor will run in forward and reverse but not neutral. The yellow cam trips a micro switch that enables and disables the circuit that allows the motor to start depending on what gear position you're in. The yellow cam bumps up the micro switch, allowing it to run. |

Re: Transmission
Yes I unhooked the cable and moved the lever manually and when it is in reverse you cannot push it forward or backward it acts like something clangs and locks it up
