I might get the batteries out tomorrow and look at the damage. Still working on getting the cash together for new batteries. I promise I won't skimp to much on them.

Depends on what the front bar looks like. Can you get a picture of the front of the tray right by the one battery in question?

I wouldn't worry as much about the controller as before. Someone has upgraded the controller from the original troublesome black one. I think that you are good in that department

Are these carts fiberglass and is this one upgradeable speed wise?

Can't help you with speed questions on a regen cart, not in my wheelhouse.

Fiberglass, no - at least not a 97. Early Club Car DS carts were fiberglass up until 1992. 1993 saw the upgrade to Club Car's proprietary material called ArmorFlex, a plastic composite type body that is much more resistant to damage than fiberglass.

As for the speed questions, one thing about the Regen 1 carts is that there is not many electrical options for it. Plumquick does make a motor for it though
