Aluminum is not going to hold up to acid even as well as Steel.

Yes, they oxidize at an alarming pace when exposed to battery acid.
We replaced supports in nearly every Club Car DS every time we put new batteries in. It no wonder CC came up with the plastic tub to combat the problem. |

Interesting, you look at some battery trays for sale online for EZGOs and they say, "a big improvement over your stock battery tray, heavy duty aluminum will not corrode".
