I trimmed the ends of the brake pads and now the hub fits back on but there is a gap around the outside circumference of the hub. Should that be there? I can’t remember. I am able to screw the 15/16” nut on (with washer) such that the cotter pin goes through so maybe that gap is always there?

Pretty sure I answered my own question and it is always there.

Brakes are like new!!!

Yay, I bought new brakes, so just after that I hit 'em with my grinder a little so they'd fit, that's totally fine. Thanks, china/ebay. But, I got a really good deal on the price! Dont pay the stupid dealer prices, they are just ripping you off!
