Charge status meter on club car ds
I am helping a fellow put batterys in his club car and he has a analog charge status meter on it.It stays on all the time.I told him I think that should be connected to the key switch. But I said I would research it first before I touched anything. He also has a headlight the bulb fell out of and melted the reflector. It is a "Speaker" brand light and I finally after a couple days looking, bought a complete kit on ebay because of lack of parts to repair the old 1.

Note sure what year cart you are referring to. On mine one side goes to key switch the other to the OBC.

Re: Charge status meter on club car ds
Thanks for the help, this 1 does not have the warning light, although there is a indention that could be cut out for it. This 1 has a analog meter someone has attached after market. The red postive is on the 36volt + and the black - is on the -36 volt. I am thinking it needs to be on the switched 36+

Re: Charge status meter on club car ds
Test the key switch first to make sure it is +36v, some of the old 36v carts had a negative key switch.
If it is negative then you need to put the meter negative wire on the "switched" side of the key switch. |

Re: Charge status meter on club car ds
Well I removed the positve wire from the meter, and as you said ,I checked the key switch and it cuts + on and off so i ran a short wire to the meter from the switched terminal and now when I turn the key,the meter swings over.
Now if it sits in his beach house garage for 2 or 3 months,it aint draining the batterys. |
