Default TXT Input Shaft Bearings- Noise on Deaccelaration

If I let off the pedal while going over 10mph, I keep hearing this buzzing/rattling noise. I changed the front wheel bearings hoping it was the problem, but it remains. It seem that a few people have had the input shaft bearings cause this. If I pull it out, do yall think the bearings would be available from a local auto parts store so I can get it running right away? This noise is driving me crazy. Its a lifted 97' series with a new PQ motor and I am running 48v. The shaft didn't seem messed up or leaking when I replaced the motor a year ago.

I kept searching and found the part numbers the sealed one is a 6005 and the inner one is 6203. Hope this helps someone down the road and stops this annoying noise.

Can the input shaft bearings be replaced with a mallet and hand tools, or do they have to be pressed on?

Before going to the extent of thinking it is the input shaft, pull the motor and make sure you have the bumper in there, if not you need to add one, I have a 96 and had the same issue, added the rubber back in and totally quiet.

In the end of the motor, between the motor coupler and the input shaft, cup part towards shaft.

So that bumper goes inside the motor shaft and keeps the input shaft from banging around inside of there?

Bingo.. Just disconnect the battery pack, pull the motor, slide the bumper down in the coupler like I show in the red arrow, with the cupped part facing out towards the input shaft. Slide the motor back and on tighten down, as you tighten down the rubber squishes and takes up any slack. 9 out of 10 times this works, the 10 time would be the need for a new input shaft. But this is cheap and quick.

It will feel tight when you bolt back up due to the rubber taking up space, just work each bolt a little so it goes on nice and flush.

I just located one locally and will pick it up tonight. Thanks for your help. I'm going to replace those bearings anyway since I have it out already. Do you think I can replace the bearings with a vise and mallet?

No, You will need a shop press, otherwise you will may mess up the slines and it is nearly impossible to get leverage in there to get the bearings off. In all the years I have worked on carts, I have only seen one of those bearings bad. Save yourself some frustration and do the spline bumper first.
