Motor Centering Kit = half battery life

So I just installed a motor centering kit to reduce noise where the motor meets the input shaft. Now i am literally burning through my batteries twice as fast.

Anyone else have this problem? I believe it is due to how much tension the spring is putting on the motor. The quiet is nice but not for half battery life...

I've never experienced this, however if you'll look in the instruction kit there's a procedure where they discuss measuring amperage draw from the motor. It makes sense, but I've never actually seen it nor heard any of our customers complain about it. It could be due to the fact that your Admiral motor may possibly have a longer shaft on it than the factory motor and may be putting extra tension on the spring. Try removing the rubber insulator from the inside of the motor armature. I've NEVER used that piece of the kit. I've experienced three motors completely lock down because of all of the extra pressure on the bearing. Once removed they work great and the noise is still gone.

I never installed the rubber bumper inside the motor armature as you said not to.. the flat washer, the spring, the toothed washer and the tapered rubber grommet. I may take it apart tonight and remove the spring components and add just the rubber bumper to the motor and see what happens. Wow, though, using 50% more battery life is crazy.

Take the spring out of it and put it in a vise and heat it. take some tension off of it.

like how much, till the whole thing is glowing red and then let it cool?

I'd shorten it by probably about 1/4" to begin with. Yeah you've got the right idea. Kinda like the broke teenagers do to make lowriders out of their 4 wheel drive trucks. Heat those springs!

well no luck, the spring broke, so I am trying the rubber bumper and will go from there.

Well the bumper was too big and not going to work, so I used hi temp brake and caliper grease and filled the motor coupler half full and squeezed it on, not accessivle pressure on the armature and noise is gone, well see how long it lasts.

Wow. Sorry my idea broke your spring. The grease may last longer than you'd think though
