Default 2008 slow and jerky

2008 ydr , starts very jerky, then accelerates normal up to around 10 mph then slows to around 3-5 mph and constantly jerking, then surges for a few seconds and starts pattern all over again, battery 48 volt 6 / 8volt 51.4 after full charge and 24 hour rest period, they all read 8.5 date code B3

There is a wire coming off of the back cap of your motor that plugs into the main wiring harness with a three prong connector...this is for the speed sensor, make sure that is plugged in...if not it causes this problem.

Checked, it was plugged in, I unplugged and re-plugged to make sure I had a good connection, still no luck, doing the same thing. Thanks for the advice, I will keep testing and looking.

Take off the "motor sensor" and check to see if the magnet is cracked or broken.

Brushes in the motor are either stuck or worn out.

Think it is the brushes, one brush was almost completely gone, the others looked fine, Thought that was kind of strange- cleaned everything up- re assembled runs better - but not great. Now the big question, were can I buy replacement brushes?
thanks
