6" Lifting Dilemma

So here's my dilemma. Wife wanted a lift kit, so I got a 6" A-Arm and some 23" tires.

My problem is I didn't realize how BIG 23" tires were till they arrived and I don't think our tired 2005 CC is going to have the muscle to push it with these on there. I don't have the money to upgrade the motor and controller, etc. Need new Batteries too........... Sooooo........


Do I go with 20" tires that the cart can handle for now?

OR

Do I get a 15:1 gear set to give the motor more torque? What can I expect here?

Anyone have any advice on this one?? Either way any comments would be highly appreciated.

If your batteries are weak, then THAT should have been your first purchase. A stock cart will handle the 23" tires - you just need a good set of batteries and a 4 gauge cable set. Motor / Controller / Gears are fine...

What Scotty said. It's the first improvement that should be done on ANY model lifted electric...

Thanks Mike. Appreciate the input. Batteries are nearly 5 years old and I live in the sticks, so I was planning the battery purchase on the next drive south. Delivery is just way too expensive.

You really think the 4 gauge and new batteries makes THAT much of a difference that I can stay with the stock motor and controller?? Really?
Also, won't that drain the batteries faster, especially if I still have the old ones on?

I have a sandy road I go down frequently, hence my hesitation on these tires because the torque is the only thing getting the cart through the soft sand. I realize there's going to be sacrifice with the larger tires just don't wanna be one of the guys stuck in the sand with a cart that shows well but doesn't perform.

Edited: I just checked on BGW and they say 4 gauge will NOT work on the IQ system. Anyone know why?

yankee I am in the same boat as you, i have just gotten new batteries in and I am installing a 6 inch lift with 22x11x8 wheels and tires just wanted to know what improving amperage flow does?

Where does it say 4 ga doesn't work on an IQ? 4 gauge is the trick to get more current and cooler tempertures. It's the same with all electric carts - 4 ga cable sets are well worth the expense.
