Default 85 Club car belt slipping problem.

Hello all.. new too the forums.

I just bought a 85' club car and i have a problem with what sounds like a belt slipping problem. When in an uphill start it will just slip and growl untill i get moving..then it will run just fine. When i'm moving at a slow idle it will also slip.

I Bought a new belt and replaced the old one, but still the same problem. Would this be a problem with the primary clutch??

Just looking for some advice thank you kindly.

How tight/loose is your belt? Pictures would help.

no theres no way to tighten the clutch belt what you need to do is put the cart in maintence mode and take the seat off start the cart and watch the clutches......if you replaced the belt with the right belt then chances are your problem is in one of the clutches.............................

Should be 4 bolts holding the engine to the plate under it. My plate was slotted allowing the engine to be moved forward or backward.

yes it is but its not meant for adjusting the clutch belt.....there is a tool to tell you if your engine is sitting in the cart just right and if you move the whole engine forwards to tighten the belt than the engine is out of alginement with the rear end, now can you do it??? yes i suppose but how will effect the cart?? i would think theres a reason they want the engine and rear end lined up and have a tool for doing so................................

I have found this much out..

When the cart is put in service mode and ran in neutral there is no problem(clutches engage and disengage properly) . But then again the cart never squealed when it wasn't under a load such as an uphill start. So when putting it underload the source of the squeal is coming from what appears the primary engine clutch. The belt does not appear to be slipping but a squeal is coming from the clutch.

The belt i replaced the old one with seems too fit fine.. its a 6013 napa brand belt. Does this mean that my clutch is wore out??

Thanks for the replies and lmk what you guys think.

Is there no cure?

Perhaps a rebuild kit of some sort?

i don,t think they make a rebuild kit for it anymore but i,m not 100% certain on that..............the cure is if you can find a kit than yes rebuild it if not you,ll have to either replace it or live with it......you do not grease or oil them thats a no no...............you may however be able to take it off and then take it apart and clean it real well.............will that help???? .........................

Can I suggest it may just be the starter belt
slipping as the engine isn't quite started yet?
