Yamaha clutch puller?
Why are these so high? Looks like a big bolt pretty much. Can you make one of these easily with a welder? I just dont want to spend 40.00 on a bolt I plan on using one time. Or does someone have one I can borrow if I pay shipping and a money deposit.
Thanks jb_dinos@yahoo.com Jeremy |

Re: Yamaha clutch puller?
I haven't pulled a Yam clutch yet, but I imagine it's like the rest of em'? The issue is the left handed threads needed to remove the clutch from the shaft. I made one years ago, used a really long bolt and cut the threads off, then bought a left handed die and made my own. You'll also need to round the end of the bolt "puller" so you don't MASH the end of the shaft though. I'd reccomend a grade 8 for the task.

They're not left handed threads though.

I stand corrected! I'll just shut up and post what I can REALLY help with from now on. Thanks for the correction the same principle should work though. I made mine for a Polaris snowmobile about 10 years ago.

Re: Yamaha clutch puller?
People do make them, but you need to be careful you don't trash the threads or crank end. You trash the clutch threads you might have to destroy it to get it off. I found the measurements online and had a machinist whip one up for me. Some buy the bolt (what a 14mmx1 thread or something) and make a rod for it. Some have even used a sparkplug and rod to make one, but like I said you better be careful you don't end up with junk.
