On mine was simple, I used a converter at first but now have an independent 12v battery. From the radio, tie the yellow and red together and run to a 12v source. Black is ground and goes to negative. My radio (kenwood) shuts off completely when you hold the power button down a few seconds and the memory will be there when I turn it back on. Also my radio is behind a dash so I ran a blue 12v indicator light to come on when the radio power is on just in case my dash is closed and the radio is on to let me know.
Mine actually goes to a 12v boat fuse block as do all my other 12v accessories, which of course is ran to the marine battery. Here are pics of my setup.. 4- Polk db 6.5" 1- Bazooka 100wt 8" sub Kenwood cd-mp3 player Radio off Radio On Sub above motor 12v battery |
