TXT Shackle Mount Re-Weld: Must body be removed
So rear mount on the passenger side rear leaf spring shackle has broken and folded up against the frame. I think it is a pretty simple weld job (and research here indicates that it is not that un common).
My question is do I have to remove the body before i take the cart to a welder? It looks like the body is fairly close to the shackle mount and the heat from welding could burn a hole (or worse yet start a fire). Any experience with this? Thanks in advance... |

It would certainly improve access which would make for a better repair, but it is not absolutely necessary in my opinion.

If you are worried about melting, and I would be, put a damp rag on the plastic and go slow.
