Default 1976 ezgo

Just found out they can not rebuild my motor. it will cost more then a new one to rebuild it. So now what. not sure what to do now. I need a motor. I dont know if i have to change the rear end and add brakes or what. the motor i need is one that had the brake mounted on the front of the motor. any help would be nice.

You might look around for a junker cart and steal the entire axle with motor. If I understand you, your motor incorporates a brake, but if you replace the entire axle assembly, you'd get brakes also. You'd have to figure out the cable connection to the 'new' brakes, but that shouldn't be difficult, especially if you managed to get a more-or-less complete cart. I don't know how interchangable axles might be as far as width, spring mounting points, etc, but I do know that complete carts will often sell for $100.00 to $200.00 at auctions. I paid $200.00 for the 1979 CC that I'm presently working on, as a ferinstance.

Some golf cart dealers might even sell you a cart that would otherwise be going to the scrapyard.

Where are you at, I may have a motor and rear axle laying in the cart graveyard.

Hey ptwood, sorry I took so long to get back had to check a few honey holes. I found a few old ezgo carts with that style motor. If you get me a model number on the motor I can be positive it is the right one. I found a melex cart with the same style motor setup as well. So I should have something that works.
