Default What Do I really Have

I have a 2007 TXT Electric Ez-Go

Dash Tag says

s/n 2503690
Model TXT PDS
Year 2007

Leads me to believe I have a 2007 PDS

Problem is I have the seat mounted forward reverse handle and no run/tow switch

I was under the impression that PDS had dash mount toggle and run/tow

Also if it is a TXT standard, what are the a available upgrades for torque.

To increase Torque, increase Amps available to motor with a higher amp controller.
Or you could change the final drive ratio by installing smaller diameter tires.
Or installing a set of differential gears the made the motor turn more times for each axle revolution.
Or you could install a motor that is designed for higher torque.

Also, eliminating any resistance in the high current loop will reduce the inefficiencies in the system, whatever it is.

In addition, upping the battery pack voltage will give you more torque as well as more speed.

Or you could do all of the above.

The trick is to determine what you want the end product to be and then build towards that goal.

Thanks Johnny. If I was to increase the voltage would 6-8 volt batteries work with my current charger. Also I see you added a 7th 6 volt battery to your 36 volt system. Was that done to keep your original 6 batteries or is there another reason you didn't go to the 8 volts

I wanted to increase the cart's range and to keep everything under the seat, so I replaced the original 225AH batteries with 245AH batteries and added one more. Going to 8V batteries would have reduced my range.

I also used a controller and solenoid that will work from 36V up to 48V, so I can add an eighth battery and go to 48V if need to.
Eight 6V batteries will fit under the seat, but you've got to move some stuff around to make them shoehorn them in.
I had to get a 42V charger, but the one I picked can be transformed to a 48V charger just by changing one circuit board.

---------
With the other things being equal, using six T-875 (8V 170AH) for 48V has about the same run-time as using six T-105 (6V 225AH) batteries for 36V.
However, you will get more speed and torque at 48V and being human, we are inclined to use it, so the run-time may be less.

The irony is that most the people who decide to go to 48V when they replace their batteries, have a battery pack that is in such sad shape they get longer run-time as well as better performance.

In general terms, a 48V battery pack of the smallest amp-hour 6V golf cart batteries commonly available will have more run-time than a 48V battery pack made up of the highest amp-hour 8V golf cart batteries commonly available.

As for chargers, any 36V golf cart charger will work with any 36V golf cart battery pack. 36V is 36V no matter what the voltage of the individual batteries are.

No. A 36v charger will not fully charge a 48v pack.

Looks like I got tied up in explaining what I was doing and why, and didn't answer the first question.
