Default Differential Problem?

I have a late 70's or so (not sure because someone pried off the tag) three wheel 36 volt cart. I had noticed an occasional thud but didn't think it was anything serious. Anyhow sometime last week all of a sudden the cart won't move.

It sounds to me like the motor is spinning but the differential is not engaging. I'm guessing the thuds might have had something to do with this.

It looks like the motor and diff are kind of housed together.

Any ideas or suggestions? Tia.

Did some searching an figured out its the hub, when you hit the pedal you can see it spin. Now I just have to figure out how to fix it.

Welcome to BGW

Nice search jack the cart up, remove the wheel, take out the cotter pin and remove the castle nut, check the hub and make sure that's the problem, check both sides, clean the splines on the axle, and replace with a new hub,--- while your in there, check the axle bearings and brake shoes, ---- torque the nut to around 125 to 140 LBS do not back off the nut to put the pin in

Any idea how much new hubs cost, and how hard they are to source for an older cart?
