What do these setting accomplish? If the set voltage is 27 and drops below that does the cart shut off?

I understand 27 volts is the number for setting the undervoltage, what is a good number for the overvoltage setting for a 36 volt setup on a ALlltrax DCS 400

Absolute minimum Under Voltage setting = 1.5VPC (Volts per Cell). Which is 27.0V for a 36V pack (18 cells).
Loading lead-acid wet-cell deep-cycle batteries below 1.5VPC will cause irreversible physical damage to the lead plates inside the battery. Over Voltage setting isn't even remotely as absolute as the Under Voltage setting. 44V is probably high enough if your maximum On-Charge voltage doesn't exceed 44V and you don't use Regen Braking. The "fully charged" On-Charge voltages given on Trojan's Recommended Charging Profile (attached) are in the 2.45VPC to 2.79VPC range, or 44.1V to 50.22V for a 36V battery pack, so I'd set the Over Voltage in the lower end of that range if Regen Braking wasn't used and the higher end if it was used. FWIW-1: The Over Voltage setting on a stock PDS controller is about 48V. See beep code 2-2 on attached label that is on the PDS controller cover. FWIW-2: My DCX400, which will be running at 42V with Regen Braking, will be set to about 1.55VPC for Under Voltage and about 2.80VPC for Over Voltage. If need be, I'll go higher on the Over Voltage setting. Hope this helps. |

so its sounds like 28 and 50 volts should do the trick for a 36 volt system if my fuzzy math is correct.

my only question is will a battery ever drop below 4.65 volts at any time if it is kept above 50% charge when climbing a steep hill with a jacked up cart 22 inch tires 3 people and a back seat.

First of all I would like to thank JohnnieB and ScottyB and everyone else that has helped in this discussion.
I have just installed 6 new US battery US 2200xc2 in the cart and they are 232 ah rated batteiries. I am just trying to protect my investment but not be stranded in the woods by setting my undervoltage too low. I am going to try to set my under voltage at 28 volts this would keep it slightly above the 1.5 vpc. Please answer a question for me Jonhnie in your last statement batteries should not be loaded down routinely lower then 5.25 volts. that shows up to me as 10% on the state of charge sheet. I keep reading that i should not discharge my batteries below 50% please clarify this for me. I am just trying to learn how to get the most out of my batteries but not kill my run time. |
