Default 99 EZGO wont move until I push them jump on

99 EZGO with the forward and reverse arm between the driver and passenger.

6 new batteries/cables last year and has full charge

It wont move when I hit pedal ,but if I push the cart and get it rolling--then jump on--hit the pedal--it runs fine.

When I stop it--it wont move until I get out and push again/jump on/hit the pedal

Make sense? What could it be?

Thanks for any help.

Both the DCS and Series drive carts had the F/R lever by the driver's right knee.
If it has a run/Tow switch on the controller cover it is a DCS (Sepex motor), otherwise it is a series (Series wound motor)

In either case, it sounds like excessive resistance in cable, connection or set of contacts. OR it might be worn out brushes in the motor.

Lets figure out which drive type the cart is and we can troubleshoot it.

Thanks for the reply. In regards to what type of motor--im clueless. Under the seat there is a "box" with a tow switch on it. Is that the controller?

Check this out..my wife got on it yesterday and drove (no push start needed) around for a while. She noticed that when she increased speed it would kinda hesitate on her. After riding for a while she parked it. I get on and it wont move. I rapidly pushed the pedal up and down a few times and then it takes off.

The toggle switch means you have a dcs cart. the controller is underneath that box. I agree with johnnieb. could be brushes in the motor. or it could be a bad/weak solenoid or connection.

The odds are it is worn motor brushes.

I agree it could be brushes or armature but would double check that it is a DCS before you proceed. I believe the DCS did not have the speed sensor so if you look at the end cap of the drivers side of the motor, is there a grey wire coming out ? If not, I believe it is a DCS, if yes, could be a PDS.

If it is actually a 1999 model year, it is a DCS.
The the PDS didn't come out until 2000.

To be sure, enter the serial number on this website and it'll tell you what it was when it rolled out of the factory.

If the brushes are worn down, the end bearing most likely needs to be replaced also.
Personally, I'd ship it to Plum Quick and let them do their magic.

JB, I thought it was also but didn't hurt to look. I would have sworn the 2000 model I had was a DCS based on shifter, year, etc but when I pulled the cover... Well I'll be.. PDS..

I was thinking PQ also...

I suspect the EZGO assembly line had a few DCS F/R switches left in stock at the beginning of the PDS run in 2000, so the accountants made them use them up before they could start installing the PDS rocker type F/R switch.
