Default 4awg wires now its slower

I just replaced all my wires with 4 gauge wires and now the cart seems to have less torque and a little hesitation when I hit the gas top speed is about the same and its still slow uphill its a 36 v ezgo medalist 1995

make sure cables are tight .. you won't get much more speed out of the wires

All the cables are tight. I'm not really expecting to much more of anything but Im wondering why it got worse. It should have more torque but instead it has less and a slight hesitation when I hit the gas

Are you sure its actually 36 volts and not 30? Check the entire pack voltage.....Its happened many times before where someone ran a battery in parallel by accident.

The batteries are wired pos to neg all the way across and I switched to 4 because the old ones were just that old. And i figured I might as well do 4 gauge

Which drive system, series or DCS?

If it is a DCS, did you flip the Run/Tow switch to Tow when you R&R the cables?
If not, the controller may have been damaged.

On a 1995, the OEM cables were 6Ga and if they were the original cables, they were 18 years old, so they were probably pretty sick 6Ga cables, so there ought to have been some improvement in low end torque.

Are any of the cables, connections or components getting hot?

What is the pack voltage when cart is sitting still?
What is the pack voltage when cart is traveling at max speed on level ground?
What is pack voltage when cart is bogging down on a hill?

Assuming you replaced old 6g with fresh 4g the cable could not be making your cart slower. Even if you replaced old 4g with new 4g the flow should be improved. It is possible that your cable end connections are not good if your supply is good.

All connections are good and tight I don't know voltage readings because I don't have a volt meter but the wires going to and from motor are getting a little hott closer to the controler
