Default Club Car Precedent Lug Stud Broke Loose

I have a Precedent that I'm working on right now and as I was taking the rear wheel off, I noticed that the last lug stud on the wheel has broken loose. Now the stud and nut spin freely in the hub and I can't figure out a way to get in there to hold the stud and get the nut loose to remove the wheel. Has anyone had any experience with this?

. . . use a die grinder/dremmel to cut the nut off the lug stud and replace both . . .

I wish it was that easy, but the cart has aftermarket Fairway Alloy wheels that make accessing the lug nut and stud with a grinder basically impossible.

Can you stick a socket over the nut and kinda pry sideways enough to wedge the stud so that it doesn't turn when you loosen the nut? I had some success at this method one time that this happened to me.

You will have to pull the hub off with the wheel all as one. Take the center hub nut off and it will all come off. Then from the back, grind the stud out with a grinder. You will need to buy a new hub since your existing hub has that stud hole all rounded out.

Hope this helps.

Thought the wheel was the front

. . . have you ever taken a rear wheel/hub/brake assembly apart on a golf cart? Not as simple as you imply . . . lug studs are mounted to axle flange and you can not pull the axle without disassembling the wheel/brake drum first . . . he faces a more complex problem . . .

I have used a Dremel with a small cut wheel (1") to cut a screwdriver slot in a loose stud. There should be enough room to fit this into the wheel. Tape the wheel so if you slip, you don't mess up the wheel. After you get a slot cut in the stud you should be able to hold the stud with a screwdriver and get the nut off, or hold the nut and turn the stud off.
