97 DS series 48v,wanting to go to a 3rd party charger that has no OBC function
Presently have the Power drive charger and have rebuilt once already a couple of years ago, Had enough of trying to figure out when an issue crops up "Is it the charger or is it the OBC", I want to go to a third party charger that does not work with the OBC at all to eliminate the OBC once and for all. Can someone please explain exactly what needs to be jumped out for the new charger can be plugged into the female socket on the cart and turn itself on and off safely. I live in Canada and with the dollar exchange buying parts that you fine out were not needed is no longer an option. I did not read any post asking this question about 3rd party chargers that's why I am asking for everyone's input . Thanks in advanced

To by-pass the OBC on a Club Car with Series drive in order to use a smart charger:
Eliminate the charger activation circuit (not used by the smart charger): Disconnect the gray wire from the charger receptacle. To by-pass the charger current control circuit (Allows smart charger to charge batteries): Run a 10ga wire from the back of the charger receptacle negative wire directly to pack negative. To by-pass the controller lockout circuit (OBC prevents cart from running during charge): Disconnect the Yellow wire from the solenoid small post and Run a 16ga wire from that Solenoid small post directly to pack negative or controller B-. The OBC can then be disconnected and removed. |
