By-pass the OBC current control by running the negative from the back of the charger receptacle directly to pack negative.

If the charger comes ON then OFF, You may need to By-Pass the OBC activation as well.
Run the "sense" wire from the back of the charger receptacle directly to pack negative.
If the initial current now gets to Full when You plug it IN:
The Charger is Good.

Let it charge until the Voltage gets to 60v+.

Disconnect the pack, let it rest 8 hours (at least 4 hours) then measure the pack voltage and each battery.
If the pack voltage is around 50.9v, the OBC is likely bad.

If the initial current does not get to Full when You plug it IN:
Test Your cart With a known good charger or test Your charger on a known good cart.

If the initial current on Your cart or the other cart with Your charger does not get to Full.
The charger is bad.
If the initial current on Your cart or the other cart with Your charger gets to Full.
The batteries are likely bad.

I am sorry, but I just noticed I missed some thoughts on the section below (OBC current control by-passed):

If the initial current does not get to Full when You plug it IN:
Test Your cart With a known good charger or test Your charger on a known good cart.

If the initial current on Your cart using another charger gets to Full or Your charger on the other cart does not get to Full.
The charger is bad.

Sergio, i need a little more info on this procedure ! What you did not tell me in this, at what point in all these, is the charger plugged in and unplugged from both the wall and the cart?

Before i run a wire from charge recept and yellow fuse holder wire, is the charger plugged in at either end?

Also, is there a specific time when i do this? Because the cart has been sitting for 1 1/2 days since last charged?

no i have not swapped the obc. I have only tried using the original charger and a second known good charger so far. Both chargers only charged to 75 %.

I also tried replugging in the original charger, thats when i said the needle then started at 9 amps??

Test Your cart With a known good charger or test Your charger on a known good cart. When you say to test cart with good charger at this point, do i try the good charger with this still in the bypassed mode?

The batteries are likely bad. I know the batteries are bad as far as run time, but they charge up to 75%. when you say the batteries are likely bad, are you saying as far as can't be charged above 75%?

The Powerdrive "charger" is simply a power supply that when turned ON it always runs at 100%.

The Output of the Powerdrive charger is higher than a Fully charged battery pack, so the initial charging current should always go to maximum.

This test will be more accurate if You run it after the pack has been charged and not used, a few days rest is not a problem.

If the charger does not go to full amps, You need to isolate the issue.

By-passing the OBC current control will be the easiest way to see if the OBC is limiting the current.

You never do any wiring changes with a live circuit, so no, the charger should not be plugged to cart when making any wiring changes.

With the negative wire from the charger receptacle running directly to pack negative, when You plug the charger to the cart the OBC is no longer controlling the current.

If the initial charging current is still below max, the problem is elsewhere (charger or batteries).

There is a possibility the OBC will fail during the pre-charge check because the current control was by-passed, if that is the case, running the sense wire directly to pack negative will force the charger relay to stay ON when You plug the charger to the cart.

SERGIO, I DON'T SEE HOW I CAN ATTACH ANY WIRES TO THE REAR OF THE CHARGE RECEPTACLE.
This is an 05 precedent, the 3 wires go straight into tyhe recep[t. no screws, no fuses, no yellow fuse on the grey wire.

So i need to go into the rear of the panel somewhere?

ok, i see the black recept wires looks like it goes straight behind the rear panel and there is a nylon connector that joins it to a short # 10 black that goes directly into the obc. Also the grey wire has no fuse, just plugs directly into the obc.

So for these tests, do i unhook both these wires then run the unhooked ends to the pack negative?

I just unhooked the nylon connector and ran the black recept end to pack negative. Then i plugged in the original charger, and needle only went to 11.

I then unplugged that chasrger and plugged in a 2nd charger, that needle went to about 12. Unplugged and tried 3rd charger, needle went to 12.

I then unplugged charger, and unplugged grey wire from obc. Ran grey wire to pack negative. Tried all 3 chargers again, with both wires on pack negative, and got tyhe same needle readings.

So does this tell you the obc is good? We can determine the chargers are good, because they all read the same and all work on another cart.

So since these interstate batteries are the 2nd set, all new, and only 14 months old, something has killed both sets. The interstate battery says 128 minutes at 56 amps on it. I get 23 minuites.

At this point what do you think?
