Power drive parts install
Hey guys, I just got in a parts kit for my power drive (17930). The install is pretty simple and straight forward, but I have a question about the included voltage suppressor cable assembly, which basically connects the blue and red wires on the relay? How exactly do I hook that up? Seems simple but I just want to be sure before screwing something up. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Power drive parts install
Is that the one that has the diode crimped inside of it as a tail? (I am trying to picture what you are referring too)

Re: Power drive parts install
There should be a similar wire there now with a diode that is crimped in the wire and had black heatshink on it. I had to replace the diode in some before as they were blowing the fuse in the OBC.
Let me look for a drawing and see if it shows it. |

Wiring Diagram PD1_17930.jpg
It should go just as the colors show here. The diode is just part of the lead. |

Re: Power drive parts install
The way I have it hooked up at the moment is the blue wire from the charger plugged into the blue wire on the new wires, the two red wires from the new to the red wire spade spot on the relay, and the red and blue wires from the new to the blue spade spot on the relay. Is that right? I dont believe there was a wire that had a diode crimped into it.

Re: Power drive parts install
I went out to see if I had a 17930 here and I do not. Just PD2's and PD3's. It sounds correct but I am hesitant to say for sure without seeing it on one to verify.
If no one else chimes in for certain, contact the seller and see if they have a Instruction sheet for you. The kits I purchase only come with a relay, heatsink/rectifier and a breaker. Never had that wire assembly included. |

Re: Power drive parts install
Hook the ring terminal to the center post of the heatsink. The pigtail that hangs off of the suppressor assembly plugs into the blue wire from the DC cord. The two small blade terminals plug into the relay side by side. Doesn't matter which way. Polarity isn't important.
