Default 36 volt monarch battery charger

Neighbor has an American Monarch 36 volt (Club Car) charger. Only showing max of 5 amps while plugged to cart. Only putting out 21.6 volts.
Made 1982, very primitive inside. Not finding any info with searches.
Am I right in telling him it is time for a new charger.

Jake, you are right on that. His cart is the same vintage...... old cart,,,,,,,,old charger,,,,,,,,old guy !!!

Just thought about capacitor...no continuity between post!! After other tests, will look to replace that.

The capacitor is open. that is not to costly. But a diode is burned off on the heat sink. dont know if that is available. I still haven't found any real info on this charger .

Can you find a part number on the diode assembly?
Diodes for battery chargers kinda tend to be pretty similar, so there may be another option even if you can't find the exact same one.

The new cap needs to have the same Farad and voltage ratings as the old one for it to function properly.
