Default Why is my Precedent so fast? Bad thing?

My Precedent is a '14, bought from a CC dealer recently, who had originally told me it had a high speed motor installed. When I looked, it wasn't blue (he's a D&D dealer) and i called him out on it, and he said he must have gotten the cart mixed up with another, but we still went out and did 27 mph with both of us in it (probably 400 pounds between us). I've gotten it to 28 with just me. He said that he usually programs the carts to 19.5 mph but had this one set fast. The guy is a honest guy, but may be a bit ADD with his details...I didn't for a second feel that he was being deliberately misleading, and considering what I paid for the cart, am super pleased.

Other cart drivers in suburbia have been shocked at the speed of the cart, to the point of not believing it til we go for a ride. The previous owners of the cart were elderly and used it at a golf course, so I don't think they'd have done any upgrades.

Is there any risk to running the cart this fast as it is?

As long as it's still capable of going more slowly, I don't see an issue. Keeping in mind as the speed goes up, your distance between charging goes down. Let your own personal use be your guide.

I havent' installed a volt meter yet, so the farthest I've driven it at once is about four miles or so, and of course that wasn't at high speed. I'd love to know how long it'll go at full bore, but until I have an eyeball on the volts, I'm not going to risk it.

Not all upgraded motors are blue or yellow or red, it it sounds more like the controller was replaced with an Alltrax or possibly Navitas.
Find the label on the motor, and also get under it and find out what controller it has in it. A controller upgrade will get a lot more speed even from a stock motor.

You've got a feature lots of people pay up big for, I am curious why it's doing that, keep updated when you find out the cause
