Default MZJ-400A Solenoid install issues

does anyone know if this solenoid needs a resistor and a diode? See attached picture. For 2003 DS Model

Depends on the cart you have. A resistor cart wont need either but a controller cart will. If you have a resistor and diode on your solenoid now you need to add them to that as well.

What type motor do you have - series or sepex?
My 2003 sepex IQ cart with stock Curtis controller had just a resistor on the OEM solenoid, although some think it should have had a diode, too.
After changing to an IQ Alltrax controller the new controller requires two diodes.
A series Alltrax controller requires a diode and resistor.

I just added a new curtis sepex 450 controller.

I see this thread just stopped moving forward and is from September - But for what its worth I just installed this same solenoid on my 92 DS series cart with an solid state conversion using an alltrax controller and I had to use a diode and resistor for the install.

This is a great, quality, installation. Very nice. I used this as reference for my own solenoid upgrade.
