Default 1995 DS "All or Nothing"

Gents,

I have a elderly camp neighbor who is having problems with her 1995 48v DS and she asked me to take a peek at it. Unfortunately, I don't know my way around controller carts as I like to stick with the vintage ones. Here is what I know:

The cart goes from stopped to full speed. There is nothing in between. The full speed engages at the point of pressing the accelerator pedal where it should be the slow speed engaging, not high.

The cart's owner said that a family member just put a new OEM controller in it and that didn't help the situation. For the record, this controller is a Curtis and its shiny condition does lead me to believe that it was recently replaced.

I am assuming that this cart has an MCOR and further assuming that, as the controller is almost certainly good, that the MCOR has to be the issue?

The MCOR was not introduced until 2001.

She has the poorly designed and short lived "0-5k" throttle.

The issue with that design is that a broken wire or broken resistor inside the VGlide (Multi Step Potentiometer) would put the cart at full throttle.

Take the Vglide apart and check the resistors:

This is perfect. Thank you. I actually have a little bit of experience with speed controls that are similar to the v-glide so that should be helpful.

That cart may have that MSP, but unless it is an early 95 it will not.

The switch from 2-wire 0-5k MSP (older) to 3-wire CVP (newer) happened with S/N A9529-445799.

I cannot imagine how the CVP would cause that issue as the 3-wire throttle has better safeties in place to avoid the issue with a broke path in the throttle signal causing full speed.
