Well, ran the battery down to about 52v. Plugged in charger and nothing. Not even a green light saying charged. Just the amber light showing the charger has power. Put the bench supply back on the battery and it is charging back up, but now I am wondering what to do next. I guess going somewhere and having them test charger would be my next logical step.

I finally had a local shop come get the cart. I just want it to work. He is saying it's probably the bms and battery but isn't 100% sure yet. I'm not stoked. He says it'll be like 4 grand to switch to different battery or replace Samsung sdi....crud

If the bench power supply charged it I have a hard time believing its the BMS.

I will admit I have learned all that I know now about the Samsung SDI from this thready and how it has some extra communication stuff going on between charger and battery then a standard lithium does.

Either way hope the local shop squares you away.

We have proven it is not the cells and unlikely the BMS. To prove out the communication line, I think we would need an oscilloscope and compare a good working unit to yours, not trivial.

Did you borrow a known good charger and try it?

The Curtis 1313 handset to look for fault codes and check charger interlock signal would also be my next move. It very well could be the charger or the charge port, don't get fooled into an unnecessary battery swap!

He is trying my charger on a different cart in the next day or two. He doesn't have any in his shop at the moment but is sending my charger over to another shop for them to try it. I'll ask him if he can borrow one from them to try. He has a disdain for the RXV in general so his knowledge and experience with them might be limited. My knowledge is limited to just what I am able to get here and elsewhere on the web.

So he tried charger on different cart and says it works fine. His concern with my cart is that the posts aren't hot with key off position, but I think that may be normal with this cart? He saud based ok n that he believes it to be a bad bms. I told him to just bring the cart back. I ordered a charger receptacle now that I know the charger is good. Maybe that'll fix her! If it doesn't, then finding someone with a handheld to troubleshoot for fault codes might be my next route unless you guys have more guidance.

Yes the output side of the BMS (posts as he calls them) are not live when key is off on an RXV. Suggest you find a new mechanic or DIY.

Hard to find one. This guy gets great reviews locally but I wish he had just told me he didn't know much about rxvs. Super nice guy though. Charge receptacle will be here Monday. Cart will be back on Tuesday...so chilling out hoping until then.

UPDATE:
I replaced the charging receptacle after reading a bunch more on these pages. I have run the battery down a few times and the charger is now charging the battery exactly as it should be. It seems to still get great range and i am happy with the cart. Considering a speed tune. Thanks for all the help provided in the thread and throughout the whole page.

Excellent! Cheap easy fix!

If you get your hands on a 1313 handset or DIY PC setup, you can see how many charge cycles your battery has had and calculate the degradation.
