Re: equalization charges
It is just a method used to minimize and help prevent sulfation and equalizes the cells to keep your battery pack healthy.
If you use your cart a lot, it is not as needed as a cart only used once and a while. You charge it fully, then right after is cuts off, you unplug your charger and plug it back in to start a manual overcharge to help equalize the cells. Those are carts with OBC's. Newer chargers will do it as part of the charge sequences or some are by triggering it. |

Re: equalization charges
A natural part of a battery’s aging process is that the individual cells in the battery change voltage. Some cells get higher voltage, but most end up being lower. This difference is expressed by saying the battery is out of balance. The same thing happens across a pack or a set of batteries that are connected together. Some of the batteries will have higher voltage, and some will have lower voltage.
An equalization charge is one that attempts to Equalize the voltage and thus, the State of Charge between Batteries, and between the individual cells in each battery. Batteries that are balanced as a pack discharge and recharge more evenly which provides longer service life from the batteries. |

Re: equalization charges
Pretty much what NoleFan and Fairtax said. Here is also a good article from the Battery University: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/...alizing_charge
Also see the Trojan information about battery equalizing attached below. |

When you state " right after it cuts off". Is there a short window of opportunity to unplug and replug? Does someone need to stand on the sideline watching & waiting for the charge cycle to end? I want to do an equalization charge over the holidays. Thanks |

Re: equalization charges
After a charging cycle finishes (within 24 hours) and before driving the cart, just unplug the DC cord from the cart, wait more than 20 seconds and plug it back to the cart receptacle.
