Default 36v powerwise promblem

I have a 36v powerwise charger. I changed mother board and checked the 50amp fuse that checked out good. Still nothing. No hum when you plug it in and doesn't show anything on the meter when connected to cart. Any ideas?

The charger needs to 'see' a minimum of about 24-26v to turn on.

Should I still be able to hear a hum out of the charger?

Yes, what is the voltage of the pack you are plugging into?

IF the pack is above 24v, It may be a receptacle problem?

When you first plug the charger into the cart you should hear the charger relay (on the circuit board) click. this may take a moment, but without the click the charger will not come on.

You can open the charger and remove the two wires plugged in to the relay and connect them together. This will 'hotwire' the charger on so be careful it is only for testing the transformer.

Is this the black relay on the mother board or the cylinder one next to the mother board with 2 white wires coming out of the top?

There is only one relay on the circuit board... stay away from the capacitor ~ it will hurt you!

Plug the dc cord into the cart before applying ac power... then check the cart voltage and see if it is rising... you should hear the transformer hum.

What is the cart pack voltage now?

I jumped the relay and the voltage jumped up to 43v and the charger turned on. But I have 2v with batt. Not enough to get the charger to kick on. I guess ill charge them individually.

On an other note I have 6 6v batteries if I find that the batteries are shot could i change to 3 12v?

Plug the charger in like that and let it run 2 hours....check water is over the plates first.

after 2 hours disconnect the charger and check the pack is above 24v, then you can restore the relay wiring and plug it in to finish ~ if it can, meaning the batteries must come up to 42-44v for the auto cut off... will answer your other question in a moment.
