Speed code 4 doesn't remove all rpm restrictions from the controller. That's why when people upgrade a PCS controller to an Alltrax they go faster.

Speed code 5 is supposed to remove all rpm limits so the stock controller acts more like that Alltrax (but with lower amps).

Very true, but a high speed motor magnet does the same thing and allows you to keep the Curtis controller... I still have my doubts of 28 MPH. It becomes a lack of power issue at some point. It's like having a Yugo with a 25 Horsepower engine, but it's governed to cut out at 200 MPH

I just had a cart programed that I ordered and when entering
The codes there was a selection of speed code 5 on the programmer screen
Didn't try it as the cart
was for sale , however was curious about this .

I've seen a few cars do this.... It's a software glitch.... It'll actually scroll all the way up to 10, however all settings of 5-10 are equal to speed setting 3

Hi guys, I am somewhat new to the cart scene. I recently bought a 2007 Precedent and am about to put a voltage reducer, lights and radio in. The next things I have been looking at where upping the speed on it, hopefully without putting a new motor and controller in. Looking into things like the speed codes, larger tires and such like that.

I have done a bit of searching but I am not finding anything anywhere that lays out what the speed codes do and how you tell what you have or set them differently. Is there a thread in here anywhere that will give me that information? I am a self admitted failure at searching sometimes...

SPEED SETTING - DESCRIPTION - VEHICLE SPEED

1 - Commercial speed - 8.0 mph (12.9 km/h)
2 - Slow golf speed - 13.4 mph (21.6 km/h)
3 - Normal golf speed - 14.8 mph (23.8 km/h)
4 - Private speed mode - 19.6 mph (31.5 km/h)

. . . speed settings are changed with a CC hand held programmer . . .

OK cool, thanks Steve!

So I just went and had my wife follow me around in her car for a few minutes and see how fast the cart goes and it appears to go 15-16, so that is probably a speed code 3. So if I take it to a CC dealer and get it set to 4 then I should get another 4-5 MPH out of it and then if I put a 6" lift and 23" tired on it then I should see it hit nearly 22-23.

Does that sound reasonable?

. . . I believe that is what most people find after doing that . . .
