Default Help Yamaha G2 belt sqealing problem

Hi Im new to this forum and am wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Yamaha G2 and the drive belt sqeals from about mid throttle to upper throttle. I dont know how old the belt is but it looks in ok condition. When I watch the belt move up the sheaves it starts making noise when it gets closer to the top. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Welcome to BGW

Check you starter/generator belt first, that's the problem most of the time

Agreed that starter belt needs to be tight, also needs to be replaced at times nobody does any work on carts until they die and 20yr old belts are no good. Drive belt is good until it reaches 1" wide at the top, that is yamaha wear limit, and by then a lifted cart will be suffering but stock its ok to 1". New is 1 3/16 wide. If that does not fix you may have a problem like the engine moved and its out of alignment, the secondary clutch has a problem like it has a huge aftermarket spring in it or bad bushing, etc.
